American Uncivil War Rules are Here!
Architects of War is proud to present the American Uncivil War, straight out of the pages of History AND the silver screens of Hollywood!
Inspired by the films of John Ford and classics like Gone with the Wind, The Horse Soldiers, The Great
Locomotive Chase, and Shenandoah,
American Uncivil War captures the
spirit of these films with miniature games staged on the fringes of the
American Civil War. Spies, raiders, foraging parties, missions behind enemy
lines, bushwhackers, deserters and a host of other scenarios can be played out.
It’s a role-playing skirmish game with figures overflowing with character and
it puts a whole new spin on gaming this period.
The rules utilize a card activation system for initiative,
command and control. Unit size ranges from single character models to platoons
and even larger companies. Characters have special attributes like Influential,
Dead-eye shot, Heroic, and Despicable, all of which bring to life the untold
story of the American Uncivil War of both history and Hollywood myth.
So choose your side, raise your flag, and prepare for action
and adventure in the War Between the States!
The Rulebook is 128 pages and comes with a 68 card activation deck. Full color throughout
with 76 model scene pictures, actual civil war photos from the National
Archive, 12 table/scenario maps, 12
scenarios including seven that can be linked and four historical stand alone
scenarios.
The Rulebook includes Basic rules, advanced rules, pages of
attributes for your characters, a complete guide to narrated games, and more.
We provide our own figure range specifically for this rule
set and designed to be fat, skinny,
tall and short, Old and young, male and female. Specifically sized to match well with Perry
miniatures, these models are the Characters you will need to interact with your
troops.
Perry Miniatures of course makes a lovely and complete range
of models for the ACW and their models are heavily featured throughout against
a backdrop of Architects of War buildings and terrain.
Book Contents:
Foreword
A Time line of the War Between the States
The Role of the Director
The Actors (all about models and units)
Action! The basic rules
Heroes and Villains- pre-generated Rouge’s gallery of
characters
The Script- 11 Scenarios to be played out and tips on doing
your own
Technology and Tactical Hints
Special Rules
Creating your own Characters and Units
What there is not:
There is no point system for tournament style or competitive
play, but we do offer advice on scenario balance.
This game was written for those who love these films,
comics, and books and the adventure of
this time period as much as we do.
While a real effort has been made to invest historical
credibility, these rules are first and foremost intended to be the framework
for and afternoon or evenings escape with a few of your friends and some model
soldiers. By all means be brave enough to “talk the talk” during play by
quoting key lines from old films, wear cheap civil war replica hats, and in
general play around like a kid born long before light sabers, lasers, and
robots became all the rage.
Oh and yes it’s adaptable to other scales. Though designed
for “Stunning 28mm Cinematic Game Color” is will work with other scales with
adjustment. Well, maybe not 3mm, but definitely 54mm like the All the Kings Men Line!
We will have a limited number on hand at Cold Wars, but are
taking preorders for shipment in March now!
