JUNGLES!

Japanese Column winding through Burma...

Welcome to the Jungle! We are very pleased to announce and formally introduce our Jungle Sets. In our effort to support the new Bolt Action Japanese and Chindits for our friends at Warlord Games, we started looking around at stuff that was already on the market and things folks made for themselves. Jungle terrain seemed to be a challenge for many, and we saw few examples manufactured. Hurray! This was one thing I always wanted to have for myself -Great Jungles!!! So we began the journey to make jungles and like all the stuff we do we wanted it to be the best you can get. We think we got there, and we hope you do too.

The starting point was reading and looking at pictures of real jungles. One of my favorite books on the Pacific War is Strong Men Armed by Robert Leckie. The chapters about Guadalcanal and the giant jungle trees falling on Marines certainly stirred the imagination. Throw in my love for the movie Bridge Over the River Kwai and Operation Burma starring Errol Flynn and an image of what they should look like next to 28mm figures became clearer. Having to sit down and watch Peter Jackson's King Kong wasn't a horrible exercise either!

Like all of our Architects of War products, we also needed easy assembly and a STURDY end product. This stuff is for ham-fisted gamers and not just display dioramas!

Once you go down the path of making some Jungle terrain, you want it to work for a variety of things so we cover everything from the Jurassic period, Amazon Conquistador Expeditions and on to Vietnam. Bam. Pretty good "period" range that...

Close up of the Ground Foliage... Very sturdy, precolored and easy to glue in place.

The trees LOOK like Jungle Giants....

If you look closely, you will find cast-in snakes, one plate has an area of quick sand/jungle pool, vines, fallen logs, and good ground texture, easily dry brushed.

The four piece master set.... Priced at $125

Assembly is very easy. The sets include all the foliage you need. You just have to have glue, paint and perhaps some flock on hand. You drill holes for the pre made Woodland Scenics trees, in some cases Pegasus Palm trees and ground foliage (all holes are pre-indented in the casting). Then paint the base plate and trunks, and glue on the finished foliage and trees. We even include material to make vines. These really are easy to do and get a great result. In a week or so we will put up full instructions. The foliage on the ground took us ages to source. It's not your typical "aquarium" plant, but lots of little bits taken from all over the place. They have been carefully chosen for their scale appearance, texture and color. It would take a lot of time and a good deal of money to gather them all up, but we have the advantage of buying in bulk and sort it all out for you.

Our Jungle Bunker is a stand alone piece we are particularly proud of.

So proud in fact, THIS is the one I call Barb's Bunker!

It's based on the typical cocunut log construction used by the Japanese in many theaters of operation and is well concealed.

The bunker has been designed with a removable roof and easily accommodates a heavy weapons team like the Bolt Action Japanese HMG team seen here (not included with purchase).

You can see the New Jungle Range at Fall In and they will be available from Warlord Games in the UK within a few weeks. You will be able to order them from our website by the end of next week. If you are looking to add some dynamic and beautiful terrain to your games in a jungle setting, you will not be disappointed by these. When finished, they have that "museum quality " look we strive so hard to achieve and the durability to last for years of good gaming.

Pacific Stuff...Close Up #2 - Bunkers

Here we have US Marines (from Bolt Action) attacking our Tarawa style Bunker
The Tarawa Bunker is a two piece casting and comes with a Pegasus Palm tree. The roof is removable.

Here is the rear entrance. It wasn't uncommon for the Japaneses to use the watertight doors from old freighters to provide an entrance to these buried coconut log emplacements.

This end view shows the result of preliminary off shore bombardment.

This item introduces some new metal details from us as shown above.

Here are two shots of the interior. It has been designed to hold a variety of different weapons, but none are included.

The Tarawa Bunker can be used for any of the Pacific fortified positions and retails for $75.

Pacific Stuff...Close-Up #1 - Huts and the Village

Here is a shot of of the fab Bolt Action Japanese in our Jungle Village set. Rumor has it they are using prisoners of war to build a bridge nearby...

These buildings will work well for many periods and theaters from Africa to the Pirates shown here...
This is the Smal Hut. The ladder is metal and the rest consists of a removable roof, the hut and its base. Interior detail is cast in yet allows easy figure placement inside. All of the foilage, except for the loose ground flock, is included that you see on the base (random assortment) and matches our Jungle sets.

The Headman's House has a hidden machine gun position underneath, shown here with Bolt Action Japanese.

The Headman's house again. You can see the Hiddden Bunker location underneath just behind the red blanket in the front.

An Interior shot of the Headman's House...all the detail is molded into the resin structure.

The Complete Village Deal inlcudes two exclusive pieces- the fishing net set (left item) and the food prep area (middle item). The Pig Poke (right item) is also included (comes with two pigs) and will also be available in our Dark Age and General ranges.

Small House is $60

Headman's House is $70

Complete Village is $130

Pig Poke is $12.50

Figures not included (except pigs for the poke). All kits are for 28mm models.

They are now available to be ordered, but won't hit the website until after this weekend's Fall In Convenetion (Oct 28th through 30th)
